RiverHawks return home
The Spokane RiverHawks, fresh off a 3-3 season-opening road trip, will play their home opener at 6:30 tonight at Avista Stadium against the Bend Elks.
Spokane is in a four-way tie for third place in the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League, one game behind Kelowna and Wenatchee. Bend, which also plays a Sunday doubleheader in Spokane, enters the weekend 2-4.
Tickets are $5, or $3 for active military, seniors and children younger than 12.
Men’s basketball
Washington State University center Aron Baynes underwent surgery on his left ankle Friday and is expected to be healed when the Cougars open practice in October, WSU coach Tony Bennett said.
Baynes started 12 games as a true freshman last year.
