Fire District 2 – Commissioners discussed installing an exhaust fan in Station 21 and a different heating system in Station 23. They voted to purchase coveralls for the EMTs. The district received a matching grant from the Department of Natural Resources for $550 to purchase five sets of wildland fire turnouts. (Source: Chief Adam Brannon)

Valley Fire – Commissioners are now looking for applications to fill the seat of retiring Commissioner Kenneth Kessler. Kessler will be honored following the next meeting on July 19. Contract negotiations are starting with Fire Fighters Local 3711. (Source: Deputy Chief Dan Blystone)

Fairfield City Council – Council members discussed the growth management plan. A group of citizens called Friends of Morrison/Hart Park spoke against a proposed plan to put a skate park in Hart Park. Council members discussed putting a sign up at the Community Center. The town has received a Spokane County Community Development Block Grant for $158,000 for water line replacement. Rockford City Council – Council members approved a contract with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and an interlocal agreement with the Spokane County Parks and Recreation Department. The town has received a $4,500 grant from Spokane County Parks to pave paths in the park. Council members discussed recent vandalism in the park, which resulted in the destruction of a tree planted last year. (Source: Town clerk)

West Valley SCOPE – The recent West Valley Days community celebration was a success. Volunteers are searching for community programs to donate the proceeds. Volunteers also decided to make a donation to the Valley Food Bank in memory of longtime volunteer Madelyn Penny, who recently died. (Source: June King)
