Lottery to pay state a record $33 million
BOISE – The Idaho Lottery expects to present a record-breaking $33 million dividend to the state this year, up from last year’s $26 million.
Lottery officials presented giant checks to state Superintendent of Schools Marilyn Howard and state Board of Education President Laird Stone on Wednesday morning, based on a projection of sales for the last few days of the fiscal year that will end Friday.
Lottery proceeds are split evenly between public schools and the state’s permanent building fund, which constructs and maintains state buildings. If the estimate holds, lottery spokesman David Workman said, each will get $16.5 million.
That’s based on projected sales for the year of $131 million, up from $113 million last year.
