Gregg, Packwood send Lewiston into semifinals

NAMPA, Idaho – Bo Gregg and Andrew Packwood combined for 27 points and 17 rebounds Thursday as top-ranked Lewiston opened the State 5A boys basketball tournament with a 53-39 win over Meridian at The Idaho Center.

The Bengals (22-1) built as much as a 47-30 lead midway in the fourth quarter. The Warriors (13-11) got within 49-37 with 2:11 to play, but Lewiston closed strongly.

Lewiston will face District III champ Capital of Boise (19-5) at 7 p.m. PST today in the semifinals. Capital slipped past Highland 51-49.

In the other semifinal, Twin Falls (22-2) meets Mountain View (18-6).
