Emergency preparedness Web site launched
Emergency responders have created a Web site to help residents prepare for potential disasters they might face in Eastern Washington. The site is at www.spokaneprepares.org.
The Web site was created after events such as Hurricane Katrina showed that disaster survival depends as much on citizen preparedness as it does on government preparedness, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan said.
The site includes information about emergency alerts, supplies for 72-hour kits, joining a local Community Emergency Response Team, preparing for house fires and power outages and creating a disaster plan.
