Owner wants ferry moved to Seattle

TACOMA – The owner of the Art Deco style ferry Kalakala wants to move the retired ferry back to Seattle from its location in Tacoma’s Hylebos Waterway.

Steve Rodrigues sent an e-mail to preservation groups asking their help in bringing the Kalakala back to the Colman Dock Pier 50.

Rodrigues is applying to get the Kalakala, which ran between Seattle and Bremerton from the 1930s to the 1960s, added to the state historic register.
