WCC honors three Bulldogs

Three Gonzaga University spring sports athletes collected special awards from the West Coast Conference.

GU sophomore third baseman Darin Holcomb was named the WCC baseball player of the week after hitting .313 with 11 RBIs to lead the Zags to a 3-1 record in the Banana Belt Classic.

Jackson Brennan, a senior outfielder, is player of the month in baseball after batting .396 with 14 RBIs and an .811 slugging percentage as the Bulldogs went 7-6 and earned their first national ranking since 1981.

Junior Mary Kate Morgan was named co-player of the month in women’s golf after becoming the first GU women’s golfer to win a major tournament, capturing the Red Rock Invitational in Sedona, Ariz., by two strokes with a 36-hole total of 148.
