Man arrested after crack falls to floor

The Spokesman-Review

A drug suspect was out to lunch, then in jail last week.

Yusuf D. Reeves, 38, ordered food at Sparky’s Subs at Monroe and Indiana on Feb 28, police spokesman Cpl. Tom Lee said in a news release. Coincidentally, three Spokane officers were having lunch at the restaurant, and one, Police Sgt. Dan Torok, noticed Reeves dropped something while taking his hand out of his pants, Lee said.

Torok picked up the item while Reeves was returning to the parking lot and recognized it as possible crack cocaine, Lee said.

Torok’s lunch partners, officers Dave Kennedy and Glenn Bartlett, found Reeves outside checking his pockets as if he’d lost something, Lee said. Reeves was arrested once a test showed the item was cocaine.

Store video confirmed the drug came out of Reeves’ pocket, and he was booked into jail on one count of possession of controlled substance.
