Chiefs need change at top
Well, another Spokane hockey season comes to an end and the Chiefs will not play 1 minute of playoff hockey. The need for change is obvious. If not obvious to the Chiefs’ front office, it is certainly obvious to the fans.
Perhaps the reason why effective change is slow to come in this organization is that the change needs to come at the front-office level and not on the ice. How much longer do Chief fans have to be subject to ineffective player selection, poor opponent scouting and antiquated team management systems?
One needs only look at the success of the recent expansion teams in this league to understand the need for a shakeup in the Chiefs’ office at the general manager level. Effective teams can be developed and play at a competitive level in a relatively short period of time. However, this can only be accomplished through effective recruiting and scouting practices.
OK, we will have to wait till next year to see the Chiefs play, but the changes necessary to turn this franchise around can and should take place now.
