Dead man found at fight scene
Spokane police responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of an argument at the Coeur d’Alene Plaza apartments downtown and found a dead man when they arrived.
Detectives interviewed three people who were in the fourth-floor apartment with the dead man when officers arrived shortly before 4 p.m., but little information about the death was available Wednesday evening.
Spokane police spokesman Cpl. Tom Lee said officers were en route to the six-story retail and apartment building at the corner of Howard Street and Spokane Falls Boulevard when they were advised the argument had turned into a fight. Paramedics pronounced the victim, a man in his 50s, dead at the scene but did not disturb his body.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
“There’s nothing obvious,” Lee said. “Who knows what they’ll find when they turn him over.”
Detective Sgt. Joe Peterson said the people being interviewed included the apartment resident.
“Some are participants; some are witnesses,” Peterson said.
Lee said the victim didn’t live at the apartment. His identity was being withheld until relatives could be notified.
