Fire crews respond to numerous medical calls

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley Fire Department had a routine week with 171 calls for service between March 7 and 13.

Fire crews responded to five fires including assisting the Spokane Fire Department with a house fire while the city’s crews were working the inferno near Gonzaga University on Monday, Valley fire spokesman Bill Clifford said.

Valley firefighters also responded to a blaze started by a homeowner who poured gas on debris in an outside fire pit, Clifford said. Three vehicle fires were also doused.

Thirteen crashes occurred within the Valley’s fire district, but all were fairly minor, Clifford said. The majority of the Valley’s responses were emergency medical calls, there were 142.
