Principals to move to different elementaries
The retirement of two Spokane Public Schools principals has prompted several changes in the leadership roles at elementary schools in the district.
At the end of the school year, Donna Burt will retire from Hamblen Elementary, and Mary Seeman will retire from Franklin Elementary.
Don Warner, the principal at Sheridan, is going to Hamblen, and Mickey Hanson, the principal at Longfellow, is going to Franklin.
Julia Lockwood, principal assistant at Holmes, will become principal at Longfellow and Pete Hall, an elementary principal in Reno, Nev., will become principal at Sheridan.
Mead theater production
The Mead High School theater department will present Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None,” murder mystery at 7 nightly through Saturday.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Devices for the hearing-impaired are available and can be checked out at the box office.
Salk advances to state History Day finals
Salk Middle School eighth-grade social studies students took part in the regional Washington History Day competition Feb. 25 at Eastern Washington University.
Students presented an individual paper or exhibit during the event.
Salk students were awarded 11 out of 12 spots to move forward to the state finals in May. This is the first year the school has participated in the event.
Mt. Spokane Craft Fair
The Mt. Spokane High School bandstand parents group will hold its Craft and Quilt Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the school, 6015 E. Mt. Spokane Park Drive.
More than 100 regional crafters and quilters will show their wares.
Admission is $1; it is free for children under 12.

St. George’s Middle School information night
Parents and students entering the sixth to eighth grade are invited to Middle School Information Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. George’s School, 2929 W. Waikiki Road.
Families can meet with teachers about classes and activities being offered.
They can view examples of current students’ work at the Academic and Arts Fair at 7 p.m. and hear the school’s award-winning Middle School Choir perform.
St. George’s will hold Placement Testing for entering Middle and Upper School students (grades 6-12) March 25. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with testing from 9 a.m. to noon.
All students who have applied or plan to apply to St. George’s must be tested. Students having a conflict with this date can schedule a separate testing date.
