Samantha Skillingstad struck out 20 and gave up one hit as Shadle Park defeated Central Valley 7-0 Thursday at Shadle in the opening day of Greater Spokane League softball.

Tressa Predisik led the Highlanders with three hits and a home run. Danielle Lynn added two hits and also homered.

In other openers, Erin Norris finished 3 for 4 with three runs batted in, including a two-run double in the sixth to lead Mead past visiting East Valley 11-1. Katie Kine went 2 for 3 for the Panthers and scored four runs. … Kristina DeMello struck out 12 in a five-inning one-hitter and was 2 for 3 as Mt. Spokane defeated visiting Ferris 12-0. Lacey Kerr finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Wildcats. … Athena Gracier finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, including a solo homer in the fourth as Rogers rolled to a 16-3 victory over visiting Cheney.
