Get out, Get going
Let’s hope they can swim
Have you ever wondered how far Fido can jump? You can get this burning question answered at the Dog Dock Jumping Contest at the 46th annual Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center this weekend. Anyone can enter as long as your dog is vaccinated and has a ball to chase off the end of the dock. Don’t worry; Fido will have a nice pool of water to jump in for a soft landing. Just be prepared for that lovely wet dog smell.
Competitions are today at noon, 2, 5 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at noon. The finals will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Dog owners must bring their animal’s shot records. Check out www.spokaneoutlook.com for a full list of rules.
The Outdoor Adventure Show is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Children 6 and under are free.
Rummage till you drop
Today is the last day of a rummage sale that benefits Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels. The organization delivers meals to homebound seniors for a nominal fee.
One never knows what hidden gems will be at a rummage sale, so drop in for a little browsing. The sale is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 321 S. Dishman-Mica Road.
Party politics
Politics and congenial discussion don’t always go together, but things should go smoothly tonight at a planned Democratic potluck social – unless a few Republicans show up. The social will begin at 7 p.m. at the Central Grange, 7001 E. Bigelow Gulch Road. A few Democratic candidates are expected to attend and share views on local issues.
Those attending are asked to bring finger food or a dessert to share. The suggested donation is $5 per person or $10 per family. Call 924-7212 for more information.
