Bamboo rods: Seed to stream

“Trout Grass,” a documentary film written and narrated David James Duncan, author of the fly-fishing classic “The River Why,” will be shown free on Friday, 7 p.m., at the Community Center, 35 W. Main in Spokane, sponsored by Idaho Rivers United.

The documentary follows the 10,000-mile journey of bamboo from plant to fly rod. Along the way it captures the appeal of craftsmanship and rivers and opens the discussion to whether fishing is about much more than catching fish.
