Deer Park Eagles auction and luncheon

To help cover rising insurance costs, Deer Park Eagles Aerie No. 3564 will host an auction and luncheon at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Eagles Lodge, 12 W. South Ave.

This year the lodge’s insurance premium is expected to triple. The luncheon and auction will help offset the increase. Auction items include a pool table and furniture.

Aerie members have contributed to a variety of community events since opening 32 years ago, including: scholarships for Deer Park and Riverside High School seniors; donations to Settlers Day, Winter Festival and Easter Egg Hunt celebrations; grad-night fish fry fund-raiser; Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets for low-income families; blood drives; purchasing school supplies for elementary school students; and raising money for the American Heart Association.

The aerie will also hold a dinner Friday to benefit the Clayton Grange Building Fund, which aims to restore the fire-damaged Grange. Serving for the pork loin dinner starts at 5 p.m. Admission is $6.
