Job transfer spurs resignation
Recently elected Millwood Councilman Brian Votava resigned from his council seat Monday, town officials said.
“He’s been transferred by his employer to Alaska,” said Town Clerk Eva Colomb.
In November, Votava ran unopposed for the seat on the five-person council.
He works at the Spokane Valley Post Office, and about a month after the election he became aware that he likely would be moving because of a promotion, Colomb said.
He filed a letter of resignation with the city Monday, which will be presented to the Town Council at its next meeting, Colomb said.
Since his term began, Votava has not been able to attend any of the council meetings.
The Town Council will likely form a committee to consider people who could be appointed to Votava’s position.
