NFL owners gather to take care of business
When the NFL owners convene today in Orlando, Fla., for their annual meeting, they will have a lot to discuss.
The owners will review the new collective-bargaining agreement and revenue-sharing plan they hastily passed this month. They will get a primer on the implementation of the new television contracts, which go into effect this season. They will vote on a number of rules changes proposed by the Competition Committee.
And the owners will address that little issue of selecting a new commissioner to replace the retiring Paul Tagliabue.
While no decision will be made in Orlando, Tagliabue will present his plan on Monday for how the owners should select the new commissioner. There is no definitive timetable for the selection of a new commissioner.
