District replacements named
The Coeur d’Alene School District on Tuesday named replacements for three administrators retiring at the end of the school year.
Tom Trotter will take over the special education and counseling department, succeeding Diana Gifford. Trotter is a professor at the University of Idaho in various departments, including special education and counseling as well as school psychology.
Trotter founded special services at Lewiston public schools and has worked at Indiana University at South Bend and the Idaho Education Department in various leadership roles.
Frances Huffman will be the new Title 1 director and assistant to Trotter. She replaces Linda Powers. Huffman splits her time between being assistant principal and speech language pathologist at Skyway Elementary School in Coeur d’Alene. She has supervised special education at the Mackay and Pocatello school districts.
Jill Hill is taking the place of Carol Brown as transportation director. Hill has worked at the Coeur d’Alene district for 10 years as a driver. Before that, she drove a school bus in Florida.
Although she had not worked in a school administrative role, Hill has experience as secretary and treasurer of the Idaho Association of Pupil Transportation.
