West Valley SCOPE – Volunteers discussed final plans for the annual West Valley Days event on June 3. Volunteers also helped staff the Millwood Fire Station on April 29 to collect hazardous household waste items. (Source: June King)

Millwood City Council – Representatives from West Valley SCOPE spoke about the parade and carnival set for June 3. Council members appointed Pamela Kester to the planning commission. The attorney reviewing the city’s zoning ordinances made a presentation. (Source: Town clerk Eva Colomb)

Spokane Valley Fire – Commissioners revised the districts military leave policy so it applies only for mobilization, not training. They also passed a resolution to purchase a heavy duty truck capable of towing a new urban search and rescue trailer that is currently being built to the department’s specifications. There was a discussion about authorizing the chief to sign documents for the lease of apparatus. A formal decision is expected at the next meeting. (Source: Commissioner Joe Dawson)

Fairfield City Council – The water tank project is nearly complete and everything should be up and running by Friday. Council members discussed what type of tree to plant during the town’s Arbor Day celebration on June 10, but reached no decision. The newly renamed Thiel Park also will be dedicated that day. New sprinkler heads have been ordered for the new automatic sprinkler system in the park. Mosquito fogging will begin Tuesday and be applied every other week. (Source: Town Clerk Sue Adams)

Rockford City Council – Council members discussed the law enforcement contract with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. They also discussed again how to get water and sewer service to a couple hilltop building sites. The town also received word that they have received a Merit Award in the Small Town Plans category for a downtown revitalization plan done in 2004. Liberty Lake SCOPE – Volunteers discussed staffing for several upcoming community events. A new Liberty Lake police officer introduced himself. Representatives from the city of Liberty Lake gave a presentation on plans for a civic center on land between Mission and Appleway near Signal Street. (Source: President Rob Hill)
