Bicyclist crashes into car
A Spokane bicyclist smashed through a car windshield after hitting the vehicle head-on at the intersection of Monroe Street and Glass Avenue on Saturday.
The cyclist, a 21-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital with two broken legs, head injuries and multiple lacerations, said Cpl. Tom Lee of the Spokane Police Department.
The man, not yet identified, was riding down Monroe Hill illegally on the left side of the road when the collision occurred at 3:18 p.m., police said. He was not wearing a helmet, which is also against the law.
“It’s amazing he’s alive,” Lee said.
Inside the car, a 57-year-old woman, also unidentified, suffered cuts after being sprayed with glass.
Police shut down Monroe Street traffic briefly to investigate the accident scene.
