Community Colleges of Spokane’s run came to an end thanks to one big inning.

Mt. Hood scored six unearned runs in the fourth inning Saturday en route to a 7-5 victory over the Sasquatch in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges softball tournament at Delta Park in Portland.

The Sasquatch won twice earlier in the day in loser-out games in their run through the loser’s bracket.

In the first game of the day, Amber Fowler (Colville) hit a three-run homer in the first, her 25th of the season, as CCS led 9-1 after three innings en route to a 10-2 victory over Centralia (22-16).

In game No. 2, Aimee Fitting (Lakeland) hit a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to send CCS past South Puget Sound 7-5. Lacey Parry, a Mead grad who also had a two-run triple in the first game, hit a three-run homer in the second for the Sasquatch.

The loss in the team’s third game of the day left CCS (39-10) with a fifth-place finish in the tournament after finishing the regular season tied with Wenatchee atop the East Division.

•Washington scored three times in the top of the seventh to knock off Kansas 3-0 in the championship game of the Provo Regional in Provo, Utah.

Freshman Danielle Lawrie, named regional MVP, earned all three victories for the Huskies, not allowing a run in 17 innings. She allowed just five hits and struck out 29 for UW (35-23), which advances to the NCAA Super Regional for the second straight year.

Lauren Greer started the seventh-inning rally for UW with a leadoff single. Dominique Lastrapes followed with a single before Ashley Charters doubled home Greer. Aimee Minor then singled to score Lastrapes, and Brooke Woodward followed with a sacrifice fly that plated Charters.

Lawrie (23-14) allowed a walk but nothing else in the ninth, and finished the day with 13 strikeouts.
