GSL teams kick off postseason with Lewis and Clark at Pasco
Lewis and Clark’s trip to the Tri-Cities tonight sets Greater Spokane League postseason football in motion.
The Tigers (5-3) are at Columbia Basin League 4A champion Pasco (8-1) at 7 in Edgar Brown Stadium. They played the Bulldogs in their last playoff appearance in 2003.
“We’re excited to compete against one of the state’s best programs,” said LC coach Tom Yearout. “Their kids are talented and extremely well-coached.”
Pasco has three state titles and a second place since 1998. Shayne Kelly of the Bulldogs was 131 for 218 for 2,080 yards and 26 touchdowns. Lucas Urlacher was third among CBL rushers with 923 yards on 146 carries and seven scores.
LC led the GSL in passing defense and was third overall. Sophomore quarterback Taylor Eglet was fourth in the GSL in passing with 850 yards. Several backs carry the rushing load.
“Four Northeast A League teams are also playing for state spots tonight at 7 against counterparts from the Caribou Trail League.
NEA champion Freeman (8-1) hosts Omak (5-4), and runner-up Kettle Falls (7-2) is home against Cashmere (5-4). Colfax (6-3), third in the NEA, travels to Okanogan (7-2), and Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls (4-5) is at CTL champion Cascade-Leavenworth (7-2).
