Ready for prime time

The Spokesman-Review

Keep an eye on these three once the season tips off:

Keoni Watson, G:

Watson, a 5-foot-10 speedster, scored in double figures 15 times last year and averaged 10.4 points, but was turnover-prone and also fouled out five times. He will be counted on for scoring, defense and improved decision-making.

O.J. Avworo, G:

The true freshman from Houston is bidding for a starting job at point guard with J.C. transfer Mario Mackey. Avworo has impressed the coaching staff with his poise and appears to have the athleticism to be an immediate contributor.

Clyde Johnson, F:

Johnson won’t fill the stat sheet, but he’s the prototypical “glue” player, according to Pfeifer. The 6-7 forward only averaged 7.5 points and 6 rebounds on a 30-4 J.C. team last year, but he was versatile enough to defend guards or forwards.
