Today’s project
A great project for the whole family, this do-it-yourself pull-apart reindeer is so easy (and cute) you’ll want to make an entire herd for the holidays. Best of all, when Christmas is over, they simply pull apart and store flat until next year.
Made from one-inch pine (other woods will work), the reindeer has only six pieces. Simply trace the pieces onto the lumber using full-size patterns, cut them out and sand. To finish, add a coat of stain or paint, seal and assemble the pieces by simply sliding them together. All of the pieces interlock, so nails and glue aren’t necessary.
After the reindeer is assembled, it’s easy – and fun – to get creative. Add a red pompom nose, movable eyes and a colorful red or green bow around the neck. Or make up your own design for a personalized Christmas critter that makes a great gift.
The finished reindeer will look terrific under the tree, in front of the fireplace or out on the porch, or make several for the front yard. The reindeer measures 24 inches high by 11 inches long by 6 inches wide.
The Pull-Apart Reindeer, No. 819, is $9.95 and includes complete step-by-step directions, full-size traceable patterns, a shopping list and cutting schedule and a toll-free help line for project questions.
A package of holiday pull-aparts, No. C122, is available for $16.95 and features a white reindeer and sleigh. A catalog picturing hundreds of do-it-yourself projects is $2, and a free Christmas brochure is available on request. Please include $4 for postage and handling (except catalog-only orders) and allow about two weeks for delivery.
