From Moscow to Hall of Fame

Former Moscow High School and University of Texas star Andrea Lloyd Curry will be inducted in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

She was one of six inductees announced Sunday afternoon on ESPN2 at halftime of the Rutgers-Georgia women’s game.

The official induction will be held in Knoxville, Tenn., June 8-9.

Texas was No. 1 at the end of the regular season all four years Lloyd played and the Longhorns won the 1986 championship with a 36-0 record. She also won an Olympic gold medal and played professionally.

Three other players will be inducted, Pam (Kelly) Flower, Louisana Tech, and Tennessee teammates Daedra Charles-Furlow and Bridgette Gordon. The class also includes long-time Georgia coach Andy Landers and Philadelphia Enquirer reporter Mel Greenberg.

Big changes in Top 10

After a wild week in which four top-10 teams lost, including three of the top five, the Associated Press rankings had a major shake-up Sunday.

Except at the top, where No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan held their places and set up the second 1 vs. 2 matchup of the season Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

Florida took Louisville’s place at No. 3, with USC close behind at No. 4. Arkansas moved up six spots after thumping Tennessee to round out the top five.

Unbeaten Rutgers moved into the top ten for the first time in school history, jumping all the way from No. 15 to No. 7 after its win over Louisville.

USC took over third place in the BCS standings (See, C3).

Montoya moving to NASCAR

Juan Pablo Montoya will make his Nextel Cup debut next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway if his NASCAR team can work out the logistics.

Montoya is a former F-1 racer who recently decided to make the switch to NASCAR.

Car owner Chip Ganassi said he has submitted an entry for the Cup season finale for Montoya, who has so far driven only three lower-tier Busch Series events.

“We’re going to look at it this week and decide,” Ganassi said. “Quite frankly, I hope we do it.”
