State Route 20 closed for winter

WENATCHEE – The North Cascades Highway has been closed for the winter, the state Transportation Department said Monday. The department said it decided to close the highway, which is State Route 20, because there was more than three feet of snow in the mountains’ avalanche chutes above the highway and there were forecasts for more snow and rain.
