Animal abuse is not humane

With the abused cat situation in Bonner County in the local newspaper, I feel that there needs to be more concern about animal cruelty, health and welfare and animal abuse.

It seems that people in our area have no idea that there are so many animals being neglected by being left out in the cold, not being fed or tied up on a short leash with no shelter. There are animals that are underfed and shy because of the abuse that they have received.

Many animals cower down or attack when they are approached because of such abuse. There are many different kinds of abuse; not just physical, but mental and others as well.

People who have animals have a responsibility to make sure they are healthy, loved and cared for. People should treat an animal respectfully and lovingly like it’s their own kid.

Animals need to be treated equal like you and me.

In conclusion, I think that people need to appreciate their animals or just don’t own an animal.
