Area churches plan Thanksgiving services

Thursday is Thanksgiving and Spokane Valley churches are among those offering special worship services and gatherings to give people an opportunity to give thanks for their blessings.

“ Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave., will host a Thanksgiving eve service at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

“ Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, will host a Thanksgiving potluck lunch at the church at 12:15 p.m. Sunday after the 10:45 a.m. service.

“ The congregations of Good Shepherd Lutheran, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church will meet for a Thanksgiving Eve service and dinner. The meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. Eighth Ave. Nonperishable food items and donations will be collected for the Valley Food Bank.

“ Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave., will have a Thanksgiving Eve worship service and pie social at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

“ Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will host a Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

“ Spokane Valley Assembly of God, 15618 E. Broadway Ave., will have a worship service with special music at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Nature and faith

A concert combining original piano composition and nature photography will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road. The music is by Northwest composer and former Whitworth College professor Michael Young. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

Fiddles galore

Get ready for a Fiddle Hoedown next Saturday at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave. The event, which begins at 2 p.m., will include performances by the Post Falls Polecats, the Rainbow Fiddle Kids and many more. Admission is free.

Open house

Elijah House Ministries has moved to 317 N. Pines Road and will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Tours will be offered and refreshments served.
