Motivation aplenty for Cougars, Dawgs
Typical of in-state rivalry games, extra motivation is not necessary.
But when Washington visits Washington State today in Pullman for the Apple Cup, there will be the extra incentive to either ruin a bowl bid or secure one.
Washington State (6-5 overall) could use a win to improve its chances of obtaining one of six bowl spots reserved for Pac-10 teams. Washington (4-7), on a six-game losing streak, would love to spoil the Cougars’ bowl aspirations and take the sting off a once-promising season.
A victory today would be the Cougars’ third straight over the Huskies and that’s never happened in the 98-game series between the two schools.
This will be the fourth Apple Cup for WSU head coach Bill Doba.
