Buckeyes roll against San Francisco

Mike Conley Jr. and Jamar Butler combined for 16 assists with just two turnovers, and Daequan Cook added 20 points off the bench to lead No. 4 Ohio State past San Francisco 82-60 on Monday night in Columbus, Ohio.

The Buckeyes (5-0), still awaiting the return of big man Greg Oden, also dominated the boards against the Dons (2-2), outrebounding them 43-29.

(5) UCLA 88, Chaminade 63: At Lahaina, Hawaii, Arron Afflalo scored 11 of his 25 points during UCLA’s game-opening 17-2 run, and the Bruins (2-0) went on to an easy victory over Chaminade in the opening round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

Afflalo hit three 3-pointers in the early run and the Bruins were never threatened by the Division II Silverswords (0-1).

(9) Duke 71, Air Force 56: At Kansas City, Mo., DeMarcus Nelson scored a career-high 23 points and the Blue Devils (4-0) rode a strong-shooting first half to a victory over the Falcons (4-1) in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.

(10) Alabama 63, Xavier 56: At Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mykal Riley had 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Crimson Tide (4-0) to the victory over the Musketeers (3-1) in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.

Alonzo Gee, named MVP of the tournament, had 13 points and Jamareo Davidson added 10 for Alabama.

(12) Memphis 77, Oklahoma 65: At Lahaina, Hawaii, Robert Dozier had 13 points to lead the Memphis offense, and the Tigers (2-0) beat the Sooners (2-1) in a sloppy opening-round game of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

(13) Marquette 87, Texas Tech 72: At Kansas City, Mo., Wesley Matthews scored 20 points and Jerel McNeal matched his career high with 19, leading the Golden Eagles (5-0) to a victory over the Red Raiders (4-1) in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.

(19) Georgia Tech 79, Purdue 61: At Lahaina, Hawaii, freshman point guard Javaris Crittenton scored 10 of his 20 points in a four-minute stretch late in the second half to lead the Yellow Jackets (4-0) to a victory over the Boilermakers (2-1) in the opening round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

(20) Kentucky 87, DePaul 81: At Lahaina, Hawaii, Randolph Morris had 20 points, including nine of Kentucky’s final 11, and the Wildcats (3-0) held off the Blue Demons (1-3) in the opening round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

Women’s basketball

(14) Vanderbilt 102, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 75: At Nashville, Tenn., five players scored in double figures to lead the Commodores (4-0) to a victory over the Islanders (0-3).

(25) Texas 84, Sam Houston State 56: At Austin, Texas, Tiffany Jackson had her fourth straight double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Longhorns (4-1) to a lopsided win over the Bearkats (2-2).
