Zip Trip store robbed again

Spokane police investigated an armed robbery on Wednesday at a Zip Trip store that has been robbed two other times since August.

“A lone suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money,” said Officer Shawn Pegram. “The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

The robber was described as a man in his 20s who was wearing a blue-hooded jacket, blue ski mask, blue jeans and white shoes, Pegram said. He was about 5 feet 10 inches with a medium build.

The robbery occurred about 4:20 a.m. at the Zip Trip store at 1023 W. 10th Ave., police said.

The store was also robbed on Aug. 18 and Sept. 28 under similar circumstances, Pegram said. Anyone with information on any of the robberies is asked to contact Spokane police.

Bank branches in markets held up

Two grocery store bank branches have been robbed this week, and the thieves remain at large.

On Wednesday, a robber passed a note to a teller demanding money about noon, then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, said Spokane police Officer Teresa Fuller.

The bank was located inside a Safeway store at 1616 W. Northwest Blvd.

The man was described as 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, white, skinny and wearing dark glasses, a black-hooded sweat shirt, a baseball cap and black gloves, Fuller said.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the robber.

On Monday night, a Spokane Valley Wells Fargo branch inside a Safeway on East Sprague Avenue was robbed, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

The robber in that case was described as a white male in his 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches with a medium build, wearing a gray plaid shirt or jacket, blue jeans, black gloves and running shoes.

Employees said the man did not indicate he was armed in the 5:15 p.m. robbery, Reagan said. The robber handed a teller a note and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank branch at 14024 E. Sprague.

Anyone with information regarding either robbery should call (509) 242-8477.
