Development moves forward
A proposed 2,000-resident development known as the Liberty Village took a step forward at the Nov. 21 Liberty Lake City Council meeting.
The development is being sold as a combination of residential and light commercial use on 100 acres at the city’s east edge on Appleway.
Developers asked the City Council to approve an overlay plan for the land, which would break up the current zoning into a specific plan drawn up by the developers, Whitewater Creek Inc.
After the project was pitched for more than an hour, council members approved the specific area overlay plan. Developers must still submit specific plans for the construction of buildings and homes.
The overlay approval means the zoning on the 100 acres is relegated into specific areas drawn up by the developer instead of the large chunks set up by the city.
