Slogan contest boosts drug-free Washington
Name of program: Drug Free Washington Month 2007 Theme Contest for Youth.
What it does: Kids in kindergarten through the 12th grade can enter a theme that will be used by different organizations throughout the state next April to promote Drug Free Washington Month.
Last year’s winner was Gabe Alcantara, a volunteer at the Washington State Teen Line.
His slogan was, “Instead of Using, I’m Refusing.”
How to enter: Kids should send their theme of 10 words or less to the Alcohol/Drug Clearinghouse, Jennifer Velotta, 6535 Fifth Place S., Seattle, WA 98108.
The slogan can be about drugs, alcohol or tobacco use. The message should be a positive one that encourages folks to be drug free.
According to Velotta, the author of the winning theme will get an iPod Nano, plus recognition.
Entries should include your name, address, school, grade and phone number.
The deadline to enter is Oct. 16.
