Stoesz, Watt haunt Chiefs
CHILLIWACK, British Columbia – The Chilliwack Bruins tasted victory for the second time this season and they have a pair of former Spokane Chiefs – Myles Stoesz and Jim Watt – to thank for it.
Stoesz scored a goal and Watt stopped 35 of 37 shots to lead the Bruins (2-10-1-0) to a 4-2 victory over Spokane (5-5-2-0) in Western Hockey League action Saturday.
Corey Courchene staked the Chiefs to a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at the 2-minute, 31-second mark of the first.
After Oscar Moller’s goal midway through the second period pulled the Bruins even, Spokane regained the lead on a goal by David Rutherford at the 11:42 mark. Stoesz retied the game at 2 on a goal with 14 seconds left in the period.
Chilliwack’s Craig Lineker slipped the game-winning goal past Kevin Armstrong with 5:12 left to play. Moller added an empty-net goal.
