HUCKLEBERRIES : Door may close behind Hagadone

D.F. Oliveria spokesmanreview.com/blogs/hbo

This & That: Duane Hagadone’s monster expansion of his controversial SoCal home lands in the lap of the Palm Desert City Council tonight, with the city up in arms and the smart money betting on Coeur d’Alene’s native son. The Duane wants to expand the graded area of his Bighorn Golf Course home from 17,000 square feet to 61,000 square feet. The house itself is 32,016 square feet. The average house and graded area in the ritzy area is 10,000 square feet and 4,000 square feet. The obtrusiveness of the house, on a ridge of a natural view area, angers his upscale neighbors most. Cindy Finerty, a council wannabe who was the only city planner to vote against the proposal, wants to tighten up the city’s hillside ordinance. Quoth she, in the Palm Springs Desert Sun on Wednesday: “We need to tighten up the exception and variance part of the ordinance so we can never have a Hagadone house again.” (Huckleberries Online will provide a link to the story, a staff report and a good photo of the Hagadone house by 9 a.m. today) … Quotable Quote: “He won’t have no friends in here whatsoever. Nobody’s going to like him. He’s a target, he’s a target, you know what I mean … whoever gets their hands on him – they’re going to get fame from that, prison fame … they’re the one that got Duncan, ya know.” – inmate John Jones in a KTVB interview regarding the new inmate on his solitary confinement block: murderer Joseph Duncan … Poet’s Corner: “Now many months/have come and gone,/and yes indeed/they brought it on” – The Bard of Sherman Avenue (“Be Careful What You Ask For”).
