Davis’ big day lifts Spartans over Bulldogs

Yonus Davis rushed for a career-high 199 yards in San Jose State’s 44-10 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday in San Jose, Calif., giving the Spartans’ a seventh straight victory at home.

Davis ran 168 of those yards during the first half, scoring twice as the Spartans continued their best start in 14 years.

The Spartans held the Bulldogs, who rushed for 344 yards in last week’s win over Utah State, to 41 yards rushing. The defeat was the fifth straight loss on the road for Louisiana Tech.

Nevada 48, New Mexico State 21: Linebacker Joshua Mauga forced one fumble and recovered another to lead the Wolf Pack to a win over the Aggies in Reno, Nev.

Running back Robert Hubbard ran for 114 yards and a touchdown, and receiver Caleb Spencer caught two scoring passes for Nevada. Starting with quarterback Jeff Rowe’s 6-yard TD run 9:18 before halftime, the Wolf Pack scored 35 consecutive points.

Three Nevada quarterbacks each threw a touchdown pass and combined for 230 yards passing.
