OUTGEAR

Trainer in your ear

The next time you work out, whether you’re running a 10K, pedaling a century, or shredding the ski slopes, take some audible encouragement along with MotionLingo’s Adeo® Fitness Companion, which announces through your headset statistics such as your speed, distance, time, elevation and/or calories burned out loud. The product can be used alone or connected to an MP3 player to allow updates to be delivered right along with the music.

Slightly smaller than an iPod, this talking fitness buddy continuously collects workout data utilizing embedded GPS technology and then audibly shares the results at intervals of the user’s choice. Download the info post-workout to chart training progress.

50 years devoted to safer hunting

“Devoted,” seems inadequate as a word to define James Kramer of Kirkland, who has volunteered to teach hunter education for 50 consecutive years.

“We estimate James Kramer has shared his knowledge about firearm safety and hunter ethics with nearly 2,700 students during that time,” said Mik Mikitik, Washington hunter education program manager who recently helped present Kramer with an award from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. “That is an enormous contribution.”
