Yankees 10, Twins 1: At New York, Alex Rodriguez hit two home runs and drove in five, and Bobby Abreu doubled three times. Darrell Rasner pitched six impressive innings for his first major league win to lead New York past Minnesota.
Athletics 10, Orioles 1: At Oakland, Calif., Dan Johnson hit a grand slam in his first official at-bat back from the minors and Mark Ellis and Eric Chavez also homered as Oakland handed Baltimore a loss.
Royals 7, White Sox 3: At Kansas City, Mo., Ryan Shealy and Angel Berroa each homered and drove in three runs, and Mark Redman pitched seven strong innings as Kansas City defeated Chicago. Paul Konerko and Jim Thome homered for the White Sox.
Rangers 5, Indians 2: At Arlington, Texas, Kevin Millwood allowed two hits and struck out a season-high 10 in eight innings, and Mark Teixeira hit a three-run home run in the seventh as Texas beat Cleveland and ended the Indians’ five-game winning streak.
Angels 2, Tigers 1: At Detroit, Kelvim Escobar gave up only one unearned run and Vladimir Guerrero homered to help Los Angeles beat a slumping Detroit team.
