Rangers 8, Athletics 1: At Oakland, Calif., rookie Nelson Cruz hit an inside-the-park homer and also a three-run shot on the way to a career-high five RBIs, and Texas came away with the win against the Athletics.

Blue Jays 4, Indians 3: At Toronto, Vernon Wells and Reed Johnson homered to help Toronto beat Cleveland for the Blue Jays’ third straight victory.

Twins 2, Devil Rays 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Rondell White hit a go-ahead two-run homer and Boof Bonser allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings to help Minnesota beat Tampa Bay, continuing the Twins domination of the Devil Rays.

Red Sox 3, White Sox 2: At Boston, sparked by the return of Manny Ramirez, Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek, the Red Sox tied the score in the ninth inning and beat Chicago on Carlos Pena’s home run leading off the 10th inning.

Yankees 12, Royals 5: At Kansas City, Mo., Jorge Posada started a 10-run, eighth-inning rally with a two-run homer and Robinson Cano capped it with a three-run drive to lead New York over the Royals. Bobby Abreu had four RBIs for the Yankees.

Angels 1, Orioles 0: At Anahiem, Calif., Jered Weaver regained his winning form, scattering six hits over seven innings in a Los Angeles victory over Baltimore. Vladimir Guerrero was 0 for 4, ending his hitting streak at 20 games.
