Football

Travis Niles rushed for 100 yards on 11 carries and scored one touchdown as Mt. Spokane defeated North Central 21-7 in Greater Spokane League football action Thursday night at Joe Albi Stadium.

The game was tied at 7 after the first quarter. Jared Ryan ran for a 64-yard TD in the second quarter that gave the Wildcats (1-1) a 14-7 lead.

Anthony Elbert scored for the Indians (0-2). He finished with 62 yards on 23 carries.

Also in the GSL, Connor Janhunen kicked three field goals and Jake Igo caught two touchdown passes from Luke Clift as Central Valley defeated Rogers 44-20 at Albi. Shon Davis rushed for 148 yards on 12 carries for the Bears (1-1). Cody Peterson scored two TDs for the Pirates (0-2), and finished with 109 yards on 21 carries.

Girls soccer

Maja Willoughby scored on a free kick from 25 yards out as visiting Colville (1-0, 1-0) edged Deer Park (0-1, 0-1) 3-1 in a Great Northern League opener for both teams. … In other GNL openers, Amanda Swenson scored two goals and had one assist and Kelli Zakrsewski added a goal and two assists as visiting Cheney (1-0, 1-0) crushed Medical Lake (0-1, 0-1) 10-0. … Jessica Thomas finished with three goals and Katie Spangenberg and Cory Druffel added two goal and two assists apiece as Pullman (2-0, 1-0) beat visiting Clarkston (0-1, 0-1) 11-0. … DeeDee Garbe scored once and assisted teammate Lacey Nordby on another goal as visiting West Valley (1-0, 1-0) beat Riverside (0-2, 0-1) 3-0. … Jacy Fitzpatrick scored four times and Callie Paul added four goals and an assist as Lakeside (1-0, 1-0) rolled past visiting Chewelah (0-2, 0-1) 14-0 at Nine Mile Falls. Mariah Beeler notched a hat trick in the win.

Volleyball

Oceana Bush and Erica Ehlo had 12 kills and 10 digs apiece as Lewis and Clark edged Mead 25-22, 25-22, 14-25, 23-25, 15-10 in non-league action between Greater Spokane League opponents. Freshman Alexis Olgard had 10 blocks for the Panthers. … In other non-league games between GSL teams, Maddy Lorenz had 30 digs and Carly Schwab posted 16 kills as visiting Ferris defeated East Valley 25-10, 24-26, 25-13, 25-19. … Eileen Chatfield had 14 kills and Lisa Reich had 39 assists as University topped host Shadle Park 25-20, 24-26, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13. Brynn DeLong had 19 kills for the Highlanders.
