Play for a good cause

» Theater Arts for Children will hold a fund-raiser performance of "The Fourth Wall" today at 7 p.m. in the Spokane Valley Community Center, 10814 E. Broadway Ave. Tickets are $12 and include refreshments.

» Theater Arts for Children is in its 11th season and has staged 40 shows. Hundreds of kids have responded to the bite of the acting bug on its stage.

It's fair time!

» No September is complete without a visit to the Spokane County Interstate Fair. It starts this weekend and continues through Sept. 17.

» So pad your wallet with cash and head down for the elephant ears, rides, corn on the cob, music, cotton candy, exhibits, giant vegetables, animals and more. There are rodeo performances and a demolition derby scheduled.

» Hours are from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day except for Sept. 17, when the gates close at 8 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 seniors and youth ages 7-13. Children under 6 are free. There are additional charges for the rides, rodeo, demolition derby and the grandstand concerts.

Calling all princesses

» A few good princesses are needed for an upcoming production of "Twelve Dancing Princesses" put on by Theater Arts for Children. Auditions for kids age 5 and up are set for 6:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Spokane Valley Community Center, 10814 E. Broadway Ave. Character descriptions are available at www.theaterartsforchildren.org.
