Marlins 3, Phillies 0: At Miami, Dontrelle Willis threw a three hitter and matched a career high with 12 strikeouts carrying Florida to a win over Philadelphia.

Braves 2, Cubs 1: At Atlanta, Lance Cormier pitched seven solid innings and struck out a career-high 10 to help Atlanta beat Chicago. Brian McCann doubled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.

Dodgers 9, Mets 1: At New York, Nomar Garciaparra had a three run homer and four RBIs to lead Los Angeles over New York.

Padres 10, Giants 2: At San Francisco, Brian Giles drove in four runs and San Diego avoided a three-game sweep with a victory over San Francisco.
