Idaho tops Louisiana Tech

Haley Larsen had 25 kills and Amanda Bowman and Saxony Brown added 11 kills each as Idaho beat Louisiana Tech 30-23, 28-30, 30-22, 30-21 Saturday to earn its first Western Athletic Conference volleyball win of the year.

Idaho totaled 71 kills. Brown also led the Vandals with 16 digs. Idaho improved to 2-10 on the season and 1-1 in WAC play.

•Holly Tomlin had 13 kills and Tamra Stark added eight blocks to guide Whitworth to a 30-23, 30-26, 30-26 win over visiting George Fox in a Northwest Conference home match. Nikki Bardell added 10 kills for the Pirates. The Pirates improved to 3-12 overall and 2-2 in the NWC.

Men’s soccer

Whitworth and Linfield fought to a 3-3, two-overtime tie in Northwest Conference play. Niko Varlamos led the Pirates with two goals. Grant Williams had 12 saves for Linfield. Whitworth is 3-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the NWC.

•Neil Bachman had a hat trick to lead Community Colleges of Spokane to a 5-0 shutout of Treasure Valley in NWAACC play at Ontario, Ore. Keith Kirsch had three assists for the Sasquatch, who outshot Treasure Valley 18-3. CCS is 6-1 in the NWAACC.

Women’s soccer

Whitworth sophomore Penelope Crowe scored her first two goals of the season as the Pirates shut out host Linfield 3-0 in Northwest Conference action. Whitworth’s leading scorer Greta Thibodeau had the other goal. Whitworth improved to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

•Katlyn Laughlin assisted on both of CC Spokane’s goals to guide the Sasquatch to a 2-0 win over host Treasure Valley in NWAACC play at Ontario, Ore. Lauren Nay and Heather Wilson had the goals for CCS, which dominated play, outshooting the Chukars 16-2. CCS improved to 6-3, 6-1.
