Football can be a family sport
Fall brings cooler temperatures, changing leaves and, inevitably, football. But this season, use sports-filled weekends as an opportunity to bring family and friends together for a good time.
Many women today are rabid sports fans just like the men in their lives, so do away with the notion that only men spend their weekends watching, or even attending, football games. Instead, take advantage of the countless entertaining opportunities that fall football weekends have to offer.
If the big game is on TV, consider throwing a tailgate party at home. Invite a few football fanatics or even some rival fans over to make things interesting. Ask your guests to bring their favorite snack or beverage. Appetizers, chips and dip and a deli tray from your local supermarket are the perfect foods to snack on as you watch the game.
Cheer for your alma mater with fellow alumni. Check with your school’s alumni association to see if a local branch is hosting a party for the game. If the NFL is your sport of choice, find a local sports bar that caters to your favorite team. These festive atmospheres give you the perfect opportunity to meet people who share a common interest.
If you can’t make it to your team’s game, consider attending a local match-up instead. Check the schedules for college or high-school teams in your area, and your family can enjoy the football experience in person. Don’t forget to bring money for the concession stand — the aroma of hot dogs and popcorn will be too much for the kids to resist.
This fall, don’t let football season interfere with fun times with your family. By using these ideas, the sports fans in your life can enjoy the big game and family and friends all at once.
