Man arrested on assault, drug charges
The Latah County Sheriff’s Office reported that Timothy Carl Mantz, 51, was arrested without incident around 11 p.m. Friday when he was stopped for a traffic violation on Highway 6 at Flannigan Creek Road, west of Potlatch, Idaho.
Mantz, of Harvard, Idaho, was booked into the Latah County jail for one count of aggravated assault and one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
On Feb. 16, the Sheriff’s Office began investigating Mantz for allegedly threatening Karl Hoidal, 18, of Potlatch, by firing a handgun near Hoidal’s head, a sheriff’s official said in a press release.
Ammunition, 35 firearms, approximately 12 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were seized by sheriff’s detectives Friday when they searched Mantz’s residence, 1011 Vale Road, in Harvard, according to the sheriff’s report.
