Boys
Ferris and University are tied in the standings through two events. In the first GSL event, played at Liberty Lake Golf Course, University’s Hank Frame earned the medalist honor with a 1-under-par 69. Returning All-GSL first-team golfer Dustin Poe, a senior at Ferris, shot par for second place. Mt. Spokane senior Bobby Moore was third with a 71. Frame is leading the league through two events, while Poe is second and Moore is third. Ferris’ Ryan Jones and U-Hi’s Wes Millard are tied for fourth with an average of 72.5 through two events. Gonzaga Prep’s Tate Kelly and Mead’s Matt Penny are averaging 73, good for a sixth-place tie. Penny, who tied for 14th place in the first event, won the second event by shooting an even-par 70 at Wandermere Golf Course to climb up the standings. Jones, Millard, LC’s Connor Moran and Mead’s Mike McCammon tied for second place in the second event, finishing 2-over 72. Mead’s Erick Henderson, a returning All-GSL first-team player, has yet to crack the top 10. He is in 11th place, with an average score of 74.5.

Girls
Defending league champion LC has started out strongly through the first two events. The Tigers won the first event, played at Liberty Lake Golf Course, beating Mt. Spokane by 29 strokes. LC also won the second event at Wandermere, beating Mead by seven strokes. Leading the way for the Tigers is Chessey Thomas. Thomas, a freshman who attends St. George’s (the Dragons don’t have a golf team), won the first event with a 77 and was third, finishing with a 78, in the second. Thomas is tied through two events with Mead senior Lauren Howell, who finished second at Liberty Lake and tied for first with teammate Brittany Wilcox in the second. Wilcox is in sole possession of third place through two events while LC’s Katrina Bech, with two top-five finishes, is fourth. East Valley’s Ashley Saffle is holding on to fifth place, with CV’s Katie Sorenson and LC’s Laura Black are tied for sixth place.
