Healthy Kids Day planned at YMCA

The Spokesman-Review

A free day of activities promoting active lifestyles for children and their families is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Valley YMCA, 2421 N. Discovery Place.

Healthy Kids Day is part of the national YMCA Activate America program designed to make healthful living a reality in the United States. The YMCA uses games, a climbing wall, bicycle course and kayaking demonstrations to show children how to have fun and be fit.

The highlight this year will be the unveiling of the YMCA’s Sportwall, an interactive electronic training system that utilizes videogame technology.

All children who complete a circuit of activities will have their name entered into a drawing for a Free Agent freestyle BMX bike.

The event is open to children 4 to 14 years old, but an adult must accompany every child. The first 100 children will receive a free T-shirt.

Children interested in participating in kayaking should bring their swimsuits. Participation in the bike course requires children to bring their own bikes and helmets.
