Child porn producer gets life sentence

The Spokesman-Review

A federal judge on Monday sentenced a Boise man to life in prison for producing a porno- graphic video of a 2-year old and sharing it on the Internet with a Canadian sex offender, federal prosecutors said.

Jerry Banks, 54, had another 60 years tacked on to his sentence for transporting child pornography between Boise and a person in California who he believed was a 12-year-old girl and for possessing child porn.

The life sentence was mandatory because of a previous sexual assault conviction. Banks served 12 years in Idaho for molesting an 11-year-old boy.

‘Original’ wolf found dead

A wolf that was one of the first reintroduced into central Idaho in 1995 has died, state fish and game officials said Monday.

The carcass of the radio-collared wolf was found recently by a hiker along Sabe Creek and the Salmon River, and indications suggest the wolf died sometime last fall or summer, officials said.

The gray female wolf was among the first to produce pups in the state and was estimated at 13 years old when she died.
