Ballroom dancing meeting Saturday
An informational meeting for people interested in organizing a ballroom dancing club is scheduled Saturday at Gonzaga University.
The meeting will be from 2 to 8 p.m. in the California Room in the COG Building.
John Raby, designated USA Dance coordinator, and local dance studios will hold the meeting to raise awareness of the benefits of a local USA Dance chapter.
The proposed chapter would sponsor regular social ballroom dances, including a one-hour dance lesson.
Membership is open to singles as well as couples, and beginners are welcome, according to a news release.

CROP hunger walk April 29 at GU
Church World Service and the Interfaith Council will present the 2007 Spokane CROP Hunger Walk April 29 starting at Martin Centre on the campus of Gonzaga University.
Registration and entertainment will begin at noon with the Voiceless, a choir with members from homeless and previously homeless families.
Since 1979, the CROP Walk in Spokane has raised $532,775. Last year’s walk took in $30,412, all to raise awareness, funds and education about hunger, both locally and worldwide.
Local agencies benefiting from the walk include Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest, Interfaith Hospitality Network of Spokane, Mid-City Concerns Meals on Wheels and Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels. Twenty-five percent of the funds stay in the Spokane area.
The rest of the funds raised will be distributed to more than 50 countries through Church World Service.
Walkers also can bring canned food for Second Harvest.
